Unknown house plant. Hard leaves, upward pointing spines on edges. Flowers in spring, Reproduces by means of off-shoots which flower when 1 year old. My guess is that it is a bromeliad of some kind, but there are a lot of varieties of these.

This appeared in our garden and has continued to grow rapidly. It is in the area of the birdtable so I wonder if it has grown from a seed deposited from the table. Any advice appreciated.
